The Real Estate Developers' Association of Singapore (Redas) on Wednesday announced the appointment of Lee Suan Hiang, 61, as its CEO.
A former senior civil servant, Mr Lee takes over from Dr Steven Choo on December 8.
'With his extensive network and experience, Lee Suan Hiang is eminently qualified. Mr Lee had a distinguished career in the public sector and was awarded the Public Administration (Gold) Medal in 1998. He has served as deputy managing director of EDB and chief executive of SPRING Singapore, Productivity and Standards Board, National Productivity Board, Singapore Institute of Standards and Industrial Research and National Arts Council. He was also chairman of PSB Corporation,' Wong Heang Fine, Redas president, said.
'At this critical juncture of change in the Singapore real estate sector, we need continued strong executive leadership to ensure a vibrant private and public sector partnership,' he added.
In his career at EDB and SPRING, Mr Lee played a key role in Singapore's economic development and international business linkages, helping to establish a number of key bilateral Business Councils and strategic alliances with enterprise development agencies in over 90 cities.
He has also held many senior positions in international organisations including chairman of the Asean Consultative Committee on Standards and Quality.
